Yeah, Harvard's endowment alone is at $34.5 billion with a B! They have plenty of money to give to students who can't afford the tuition and room and board. Heck's Harvard's endowment is greater than the GDP of almost 100 countries!

How? I look at Alabama, as someone who lives in Georgia, and I think "why would I want to live in Alabama? "

In fact, I'd venture to say that most Harvard kids are on some kind of scholarship or another.
Agreed - I went to an Ivy, and something like 90-95% of us were getting financial aid.

Of course at some schools athletic scholarships run neck and neck w/academic and overshadow specialty ones like in the music or arts programs...
They also have the flexibility to change an initial offer. One of my millennial relatives is a Stanford Law alum. She was admitted to Stanford, and several other law schools in the top 10. Initially, Stanford didn't offer her a scholarship. She was offered a full academic scholarship by one of the other schools in the top 10. Stanford wanted her enough that they ended up matching the offer made by the other school, and she graduated debt free. Her parents could have paid the tab at Stanford (they likely would have had to sell one of their rental properties) , but that wasn't necessary because she earned the scholarship.

The comments section for the article the OP linked to includes a reply from a relative of former governor Big Jim Folsom, defending her relative and condemning the comparison to Trump.
