A widely-reported, inflammatory news story about a "rioting sex mob" of immigrants assaulting women on New Year's Eve in Frankfurt, Germany, has been exposed as "baseless" after investigation by police.
In a humiliating backdown, the German newspaper Bild, which originally reported the claims, has apologised for what it said was a "false report", which was based on the now disputed claims of a pub owner and some of their staff...
According to the link they didn't even ask the police for info which would have squashed the whole thing because it didn't happen???
Wow.
Must be some right-incarnation of CNN doing the reporting over there.
At least it didn't defame specific individuals.
It also took nearly 6 weeks to get cleaned up. I'm guessing with all the legit cases of immigrants raping locals it was accepted as truth by many for awhile.
Not to be confused with the very real New Year 2016 mass sex assaults in Cologne.
I'm not trying to stir things up but like I just said I think that's why it took nearly 6 weeks to get straightened out. There's so many documented cases of individual as well as gang rapes by immigrants of locals that people probably didn't think twice about whether it was true or not.
Ah, Bild. Germany's answer to the National Enquirer.
And the story is "broken" by an Australian newspaper. How special.
I do recall when they were running all the stories about this. I read about it in the Frankfurt paper, along with the stories about the other incidents, also in their local papers. They interviewed a lot of people and it was appearing that whether they arrested anyone wasn't going to be based on whether it happened but whether they wanted to be politically correct and protect all the refugees.
For entertainment purposes, I'm including a link to the last issue of Bild so you can see their award-winning journalism. Although a good ways down the page there is an intriguing picture of Marilyn Monroe appearing to have a "baby bump."
People in a sick fashion will run with whatever suits their preconceived narrative and succumb to confirmation bias.
The fake news about Muslims, hispanics and blacks that gets circulated..the false statistics...the taking out of context... it's very-very much like Nazi and Russian propaganda against Jews in the early 20th century. "Oh of course *they* did that, its in the newspaper so it must be true..."
