Liberals have sold government dependence so deliberately well, that even doing 24 hours of approved volunteer work a month for a capable adult became too much for more than 9,000 people.
So Maine's politicians are expecting these people to just sit in their homes and die? Interesting strategy.
Do you REALLY think those people are so determined and dead set on doing absolutely nothing to contribute to society they will choose death by starvation?

LOL, that's funny. Recipients had the option to work 24 hours a month to maintain their benefits and didn't, and you're (in true liberal fashion) blaming others for their failure.
Many people work that amount in 2 days, if one can't manage it in a month to maintain their free handouts, it doesn't sound like they're all that concerned about getting their welfare.
Speaking as a liberal, I agree with Maine. I have seen first hand how dependent people are of the system once they get used to it. People will purposefully cut their hours at work to remain qualified for social services. There was a woman I knew that finally got her associates. After years of minimum wage jobs, she finally landed a job with a significant higher hourly wage than before. I think she got $15/hour. She celebrated at first. Then a month later she walked out of that job and got another minimum wage job. She told us she was going to lose her benefits.
There was also another woman who insisted on working part time to keep her benefits.
Unlike right wingers who feel contempt for these people, I feel sorry for them. Nothing scares me more than not being able to carry my own weight. Think of all the dignity and self worth a person must lose to become dependent on the system.
