Bridge you are so right that there is no really good options and sometimes I wonder if this is on purpose. I think our leaders want war so they can feed one of their masters the MIC.
Did the U S have a good option in Syria? IMO when Putin offered to join forces with the U S and bomb ISIS we should have took him up on his offer. The U S and Russia could have run them all out of Syria and the U S stop demanding Assad being removed.
The way our leaders are pushing up against China and Russia and bombing here and there I really believe they want a war and do not care big or small.
Our policy should be to work with the Russians and Assad to defeat the rebels, ISIS and Al Qaeda. That was Trump's policy until a couple days ago when the gas attack happened. He tossed it all out, make a showboat military strike, and in a statement from Tillerson last night embraced Obama's policy of using Geneva talks to promote regime change. So there it is: what Obama was doing.
This is just Trump's latest distraction. Rice, Nunes, Wiretaps... it is an endless circus of distractions.
Meanwhile, we see more Ties to Russia every week. We see Trump failing so badly in ever direction he his admin is imploding in full public view.
The whole idea of firing 100 million dollars worth of missiles was to force CNN, MSNBC off the Russia story, and provide cover for his failing admin, awful jobs numbers and lack of any direction at all.
I agree, it's another distraction from Russia.
Let's see, we spent roughly millions of dollars to damage an airfield that can be repaired in about 2 weeks.
How smart is that?
The Russians knew about the Sarin and they probably deployed it themselves to provide Trump with an opportunity to distract the press from Russiagate.
How about another 8 years of tersely worded statements? Maybe we could get some more UN sanctions that the ISIS fighters can subvert by selling oil through UN members?
Well, the statement could have saved us some money. Those tomahawk missiles cost millions upon millions and the damage they caused can be repaired in a couple of weeks if that.
The "attack" was pretty much like pi$$ing in the wind.
I think reports have already made clear that this is essentially the plan developed under the Obama Administration and never carried out. I disagree that it is proportional. It is only measured if it stops here. If it stops here, it is too underwhelming to be in proportion to the crimes against humanity being committed. If it expands, it is dangerous and destabilizing.
There are no good US military options in Syria. The best options are: 1) increasing humanitarian aid, 2) accepting more refugees, and 3) denying any diplomatic victories to Syria and Russia until they reckon with these crimes.
Um, so it looks like it will be just like donnie's Yemen attack? Blame it on President Obama?! Wow!
