Washington Post reporter David Fahrenthold remembers being struck by Donald Trump’s pledge to donate $6 million, including $1 million of his personal funds, to veterans groups during a televised fundraiser before the Iowa caucuses early last year. Did Trump follow through? he wondered. So, weeks after the event, Fahrenthold started asking questions.

Congrats!

For the many on here who keep pushing the narrative that trump is a generous guy, you may want to check out David Farenthold's writing. Whatever else you may think about him, we did NOT elect a philanthropist.

When journalists uncover when politicians falsely claim an action, we all are the beneficiaries. The fact that Mr. Trump did not pay a political price for his repeated dishonesty when he claimed philanthropy, doesn't marginalize the journalists.

I remember reading David Fahrenthold's articles and wondering whether Trump was a cheapskate, as many wealthy people are when it comes to the "little people," or whether he was not actually super rich, that it was all a bluff.

That he used his charitable foundation funds to bribe the Florida Attorney General tipped the scales in favor of not actually super rich.

Shows 3 things.
Trump has no heart. No shock.
The press really is out to get Trump.
The various awards like the Pulitzer reward left causes.

Then you takeaway two of three misconceptions.

I concede that Trump has no heart.
The press is there to provide facts and the truth -- even if those facts and truth are inconvenient to your bias.
The Pulitzer is, and always has been, a reward for excellent journalism and writing. If one looks at the other winners of the 2017 prizes, what I said is obvious.

If Jesus Christ came down and said 'Trump is a lying sack of feces' .... his supporters would call it 'fake news'.

Oh really? How many of Barack Obama's false claims will start to seep out into the open now that he's gone? The Syria chemical weapons disposal claim is a monumental lie.....who won a Pulitzer for exposing that?

Your faux outrage is exactly that.

Trump just likes to lie e.g.

Millions of people voted illegally in the election.
His inauguration crowd was the biggest in history.
Obama is secretly behind the protests of his administration.
Obama authorized surveillance against his campaign.
Susan Rice broke the law by seeking to unmask the identities of Trump associates in intelligence reports

and this is just the tip of the ice berg.
