Democratic Party Draws A Line In The Sand On Abortion Rights | The Huffington Post

Democrats Reel from DNC Chair

Quote:
Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez became the first head of the party to demand ideological purity on abortion rights, promising Friday to support only Democratic candidates who back a woman’s right to choose.

“Every Democrat, like every American, should support a woman’s right to make her own choices about her body and her health,” Perez said in a statement. “That is not negotiable and should not change city by city or state by state.”

“At a time when women’s rights are under assault from the White House, the Republican Congress, and in states across the country,” he added, “we must speak up for this principle as loudly as ever and with one voice.”

some Democrats criticize him

Quote:
he party has attempted to portray itself as built upon morally upright virtues – such as diversity and inclusiveness – yet Perez’s statement clearly demands the opposite.

“Diversity is what makes our party great,” Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar told CNSNews.com, in response to Perez’s statement that support of abortion is “not negotiable.”

“I am proud to be in the Democratic party,” Cuellar added. “We are a big tent, united by many of my core values, like quality public education and affordable health care for all. Sometimes, we can have different ideas about how best to reflect those values in the law, so litmus tests on any one issue just won’t work.”

First of all, I am 100% behind a woman having the right to say what happens to her body. That being said, I am not crazy about Perez. I think the Democrats picked the wrong guy there, he just puts me off a little, for some reason.

This is just hypocrite nonsense. Perez and others from the Wall Street wing have backed lots of blue dog democrats from the South in the past. And to win in the South you have to at least give some bones to the religious on this issue. Its not the same to run in San Francisco as in Alabama.

I've known a few Republicans who are pro-choice. Nobody should support a party's platform based on one issue.

I liked what Tim Caine said during the VP debate. He said that he was personally pro-life but added....

"I think you should live your moral values, but the last thing governments should do is to have laws that would punish women who make reproductive choices."

Perez is wrong, but the DNC does not have a litmus test.

While she retains NO RIGHT to another's body.

Dems, seeking to think lockstep.
Squashing individual thought is their goal apparently.

So, they've lost 1000 seats under Obama, lost the White House, Senate and Congress and Perez wants to alienate voters? Keep up the great work!

Democrats are now officially the party of dead babies, illegal aliens, housing project dwellers, and muslim terrorists. But to hell with the white working man.

Great strategy...... This is certain to win back the rust belt, working class, and Catholics

So now according to this article to be a dem one must support killing innocent babies.. because NO mother should ever be expected to be bothered to take responsibility for the baby SHE produced....and of course the dems expect taxpayers to pay for these unwanted children.. not the Mother herself. They have their deals for exchanging funds with their dem leaders and heir leader insist others pay for these killings.
-
And that goes along with the requirement that one must be a real good LIAR to be a member of the dem party, especially in their leadership positions, along with being more than willing to BREAK OUR LAWS... in order to protect the dem party's ILLEGALS. Boy, what a sick party platform the dems have created..
