No, Springsteen was drafted, reported for his medical exam, and got a 4F deferment based upon a concussion from a motorcycle accident the previous year, along with his 'crazy behavior' during the examination.

Sheesh, Springsteen was an impoverished bar band guitar player until 1975 - wasn't making diddly money-wise. You actually think that the IRS goes after the small fish?
Your own cited article points out that Springsteen started paying taxes as soon as he struck it big. Kind of hard to hide from the IRS when you're on the cover of Time as the next big thing.
