An amendment to President Trump's health care proposal does not go far enough in keeping protections for people with pre-existing conditions, according to analysts and an AARP spokesperson.
The protections are an area of rare bipartisan agreement on the Affordable Care Act: Even President Trump has said he wants to keep that key feature.
But under the current bill, states could seek a waiver so insurance companies could discriminate against such people, rate them separately and charge them much higher premiums.
Bottom line, if you have a pre-existing condition, you are royally screwed under the GOP's new plan.
Even if you DON'T have a pre-existing condition, you are screwed if you get one in the future if you get it before age 65. The minute you get one you can become uninsurable. Pre-existing condition doesn't mean you are sickly or have cancer either. It could be something fairly minor that is fairly inexpensive (such as a benign polyp discovered during a colonoscopy ) but the insurance company might not want to take the risk with you just in case something else happens in the future that's semi-related and might be costly. They don't want the risk that you might have future claims. So you become uninsurable.

If you already have insurance, as mandated my law, it won't matter. Insurance companies can't uncover you if you get to expensive, they can only charge you a higher rate if you are a new purchaser.

And no one ever loses a job, or anything like that right?
Heck in right to work states they just let you go to keep their costs down.
