Yep. This is what makes him acceptable to the left. I'm not thrilled about it at all. The last president promised to stop involvement and he ended up becoming the war president. Obama spent his whole two terms in constant war. It's disappointing, but it looks like Trump will not be keeping his promises either. I'm not surprised, just tired at this point.

What a let down.

So, is that why Obama and Bush did it? It's not like I don't believe you but we've been there for 15 years. It's not a new tactic.

so the combatant commander on ground (not Trump) asking for more advisors and support troops, with THE UN countries supplying the most troops/advisors/trainers is going on "full war footing"???

Conservatives & Trump supporters, please defend why Trump wanting to go back to Afghanistan is a good idea.
Your dishonest agenda is exposed yet again. Conservatives, who as a whole didn't back Trump because he's not conservative, are against America being policemen of the world. So there is no reason to defend his actions on this. We don't support war mongers just like we didn't support the last president who lied about bringing the troops home.

If you're going to get involved in a political discussion the least you can do is to be honest. Quit falsely testifying.

So instead of discussion the fact that another military operation is not only unconstitutional and in this case will fail like all other excursions into Afghanistan has failed. You make it about the wording?

Bring the troops home and defend our borders like the constitution says. Trumps foreign policy is a failure and he's just another bald faced liar like the previous one. Not getting involved in other nations civil wars was his first lie on foreign policy. I can't wait to see what his next bald faced lie will be. The Presidential tradition of flip flopping and lying while not being held accountable, continues.

IMHO the reason for our war in this place is to control much of the world supply of Opium plants and the morphine they produce. Where do you think Big Pharma gets most of it raw materials so they can addict much of the world?
If we got out of the Middle East, not only would we be safer, opium production would be minimal. The Taliban put a huge dent in it before we started protecting the drug producers.

the fact is that the Taliban warlords were destroying Afghanistan and its people, then alq (which formed from the Taliban attacked the USA (911) while HQ'd in Afghanistan

the removal of troops has caused the Taliban to resurge within Afghanistan, the Taliban is also supporting ISIS in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan..

the Afghani people want the Taliban (and ISIS) gone.

have you been to Afghanistan or Iraq....I have many times as a soldier, and a Army civilian

what have you done???

So. Who gives a damn. I haven't done a damn thing. I don't care about Afghanistan. I care about the United States. I didn't lose anything in Afghanistan but a bunch of tax dollars and American soldiers.

Yes, me. Afghanistan, where by brother-in-law served twice; Iraq, dad deployed twice; Who-Knows-Where my nuc-sub brother has travelled. Syria, Libya, all the other hell-holes where we can't possibly make any difference - wish we'd stay out of all of them. Like others have said, though, it's about money and oil, and good luck keeping out of that quagmire.

I didn't vote for Trump, but had been supportive because I was hopeful that we'd get some real change from him, as a non-politician. (I will say, I'm happy that we didn't end up with another Ginsburg or Sotomayor on SCOTUS, but that's about it).

Hey, I still love the thread title because it "looks like" he's "about to".

So he's in the maybe-pre-war phase kinda-sorta?;

We must have about 100 of these "on the verge of possibly" threads.
