Did you forget that President Trump is an international businessman and very likely may understand Italian which has some similarities to Spanish? One doesn't need to speak a language to understand it and the First Lady is fluent in 5 languages.

And, "speaking" is not the same as "listening" and understanding what is being said.
Yea, he can just "wing it." It's not like these are people who would have anything important to say - where every nuanced word counts.
While other leader listened to the Italian PM with translation earphones, Trump nodded seriously as if he was listening - but had no earphones,
"Where are his headphones? How can he be listening to this without a translation in his ear?
Is Donald Trump actually a fluent Italian speaker? We doubt it.
A BBC News reporter shared the video on Twitter, saying: "A short clip that sums up this G7 summit: look who has chosen not to hear a translation of his Italian host's speech #G6"
1) A translation of the prepared speech could already have been read by Trump, and Trump knew what he was saying.
2) The speech could have been uninteresting to Trump.
3) Trump has a minor in anthropology, and may have some understanding of Latin. Italian wouldn't be very hard to learn hear if he has a grasp of Latin. Speaking Italian fluently is likely a greater endeavor.
Earpiece in his right ear as per snekretary spicer. Completely believable. Observe that some folks in the background wear headphones, some do not. One of the ones that does not, when he turns his head you can see he has a ear piece in.
Much ado about nothing, lets pay attention to things that matter folks. This isn't one of them.
