Seriously??? So now you are looking down on garbagemen?! I know people who have worked DECADES collecting garbage and are proud to be working an honest living. Beats dealing drugs.
I dont look down on any work. On the contrary, work that is considered boring or low status by many should be paid well. I simply say that all work deserves a decent level of pay and people who claim that this will cause people to stop getting an education and not get a more challenging job that provides more status dont know what they are talking about.
Many of these people will find themselves without jobs once minimum raise goes to $15 an hour. Then what?
Nope, thats just ridiculous scaremongering. Its a particularly cruel joke that the people who push this narrative are think tanks owned by the wealthiest most powerful people in the country who never show a care in the world for the people at the bottom.

Did you even take Economics in college? Or was it all Critical Marxist Theory?

Yes, the people at the bottom SPEND their money. In America. Unlike the ruling donor class. They hoard it or spend it on luxury vacations abroad. The more money being concentrated at the top, the less demand in the economy. Inequality is a threat to the national well being of not only the 99% but the entire economy.
Its the same screaming and scare mongering every time the minimum wage is increased. Always the same arguments. And they are always wrong. Time and time again. Why the scare mongering? Because the ruling donor class despise the working class. Thats why they need to convince enough muppets to vote against their own interest. Its absurd to believe that these big money think tanks warning against any minimum wage increase really have the best interest of the people at the bottom in mind. The question is whether we have the guts to ignore their scare mongering.

I've been involved in research for this. Expectations go up on the part of the hiring manager/head of the company when minimum wage increases. They want to get the most value for their dollar.
But go ahead and think that's not true just because it doesn't fit your narrative.
If they're living with umpteen roommates and still cannot make ends meet, perhaps they need to try something else to better their situation.

Living with umpteen roommates does not always produce the economies of scale and lower living costs people expect.
The person from whom I rent - who is not the owner - lives in the house, and appropriates for himself the economies of scale. This allows him, his adult daughter, her boyfriend, and their screaming baby to live in the house for free while the rest of us pay an arm and a leg.

Just like expectations go up on the part of renters when rents go up. Expectations often go unfulfilled.

Yes, employee turnover is likely to be lower when employees feel more valued. And employees feel more valued when they get a living wage.
I look at the real world. The scare mongering about higher minimum wage is ridiculous and of course it is pushed strongly by the think tanks and media owned by the richest most powerful people in the country who have money coming out of their ears.
