Whether at work or home, is TDS affecting your relationships?

Someone I know is planning on filing a harassment suit soon at her job. People in position of
power have asked employees who they voted for, or what they think about this or that - whatever
the latest news is on MSNBC or FB... If the lower down employee doesn't take the bait, they've said oh
you must love Trump or worse, you're racist... Hearing this from someone that may have a hand in your evaluation or vacation requests isn't acceptable..

If an employer asks who you voted for, you should probably say Clinton. Anyone who asks that are probably looking for someone to punish.

Ah, as if the corporate world is acceptable.

Don't you think women with high heels and large breasts have had an advantage in certain situations? How about guys who kissed the arse of the Big Boss full time?

This is why I've never had a job and never will. In the rat race, anything is acceptable. Whether one was "for" Trump or not can be sussed out just by looking at their car, bumper stickers, or pics on their desk...let alone a comment slipping here or there.

This is just one of MANY such situations which occur in the workplace and in most places (small biz or non-caring larger biz), there is nothing you can do about it.

Many corporations do have values of sorts (apple, facebook, google, etc.)....they aren't going to spite themselves, but they do push a very progressive world view.

If you intentionally educated and placed yourself in a hierarchy, this is what happens. Whether it's the church telling you to cover up abuse or a HR person who shuns you because you love or hate Trump, get used to it.

Luckily, TDS nor ODS have had any effect on my friends, family or work.....not to say we've never discussed politics, but we generally know when to stop. I know people who went off the deep end (Pro-Trumpers) well before he was elected...others have gone off (antis) after his election.

Life is too short. You just have to hope our system somewhat works and we rid ourselves either of him or at least of any of his attempts to change the Republic in negative ways.

Needed construction work done at Florida home; called for estimates. I wouldn't consider any estimates from anyone with a truck with a trump bumper sticker.

Didn't go to a neighborhood BBQ as it was being hosted by a rabid trump supporter (had a six foot sign on lawn that he even lit at night). Many neighbors did not attend; live in a liberal gay-centric town (but still a few redneck holdovers from the 'good old days').

We had been considering trading up to a bigger nicer house (in same town); post election we decided to buy a house in Mexico instead.

I have no problem dealing with people of different political beliefs. There are plenty of other things to talk about.

You have never had a job? Do you own your own business? I am just curious.

Politics do not get discussed at work. If they are and somebody gets offended it could get you in trouble.

Work absolutely yes...especially part-timers. Here in the bluest county of the blue state of NY you don't ever admit you voted for a Republican if you want to keep your job.

All the immigrants I work with/for voted for Trump And they didn't have to break any laws to get here.

And none of us really gives a damn about politics. We're just trying to make an honest living. These folks just want to feed their families and leave their children with a better future than they had. They proudly voted for the candidate that best represents their interests, and who can blame them?

Entitled, spoiled liberals, that's who. And you guys still wonder why you lost?

These is part of the fake news propagated by Trump's supporters. I don't know of a decent employer that asks their employees such questions. As a matter of fact, in most work places political discussions are discouraged. There may be a place that asks questions, but it's as common as snow in August. Making this a "trend" is real fake news.
