No one is saying it was a wrong move, what was wrong was Bush sitting on Afghanistan for 6 years and doing nothing to end it because of his stupidity on going into Iraq. Bush failed miserably with both wars.

Terrorists cannot be defeated by military power alone. Anyone who thinks this doesn't understand terrorism.

I can't remember a time that this country was 'at peace', although I read once that it was relatively peaceful during the 1950s and 60s when the country was 'neutral' in the Cold War, and so courted by the USSR and USA. It was in the 1970s that they started to have various coups, civil wars and such, and of course the Soviet Union invaded in 1979 after yet another coup (in order to create yet another coup, killing the 'president' from the prior coup). The Soviets found the going hard, of course, for almost ten years, before having to withdraw.
You'll find the fact that the Afghan president requested help from the USSR when it became apparent foreign supported rebels were going to win. Pics from Afghanistan in the 50s and 60s show an entirely different country. Sadly neutrality was not an option for the country the west has always wanted it on their side to have access to Russias "soft underbelly" and Russia always wanted it for reasons of protection of the southern regions.

If there's one people on this planet who have a right to be pissed it's the Afghans. I do sympathize with them.

16 years of combat resulting to date in about 2400 Americans killed. 650 billion taxpayer dollars. We need to get out now but no President has the guts to throw in the towel on his watch and admit this conflict has been a total disaster.

your right it takes years and generations to brainwash their offspring, and breeding to take over the world doesn't help either.

But you also cannot disengage American Society's brainwashing...either....
