Not sure what base you mention but, yes, the Chinese will be more than happy to take over as world leader as we retreat. As Americans and residents of this world, I do not think we should be celebrating.
If Trump keeps tearing apart all our national institutions and relationships with other nations, Canada may surpass us in their importance in the worldwide scheme of things
So what? I have no problem with that. The US needs to put the US first, and fix its own domestic mess.
Remember, that Trump shouted "America first! and America only!" at a campaign rally. America can't face-down the rest of the world alone. The message he sent about having no care about the other nations, was received by them, loud and clear. It's the "Liberal Party of Canada." Capital "L," capital "P." It doesn't necessarily translate to the party position, but it is a proper noun, and deserves a capital letter on its name. Similarly, the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) deserves capitals as well. We're not very original with the names of our political parties in Canada, but we do like to differentiate between a liberal stance on an issue, and the stance that the Liberal Party takes on the same issue. Same for Conservatives and conservatives.
Regarding your post, no terrorism was ultimately committed. Why? Because Canada's moderate Muslim community felt that they were welcome enough in Canada to rat out their own Muslim radicals and terrorists.

How does one "commit sociology"? Last I heard, sociology was a college course, and not something one could commit, like a crime.
Again, the VIA Rail plot was foiled by--you guessed it--moderate Muslims reporting to local police.

Canadians know that Sun News carries as much weight as the Weekly World News (BatBoy!) and the National Enquirer ("Tom Cruise Reveals Gay Tryst With Arnold Schwartzeneggar!").
