Didn't see this one coming!!

Amazon is buying Whole Foods.

The online giant is buying the high-end grocer for $42 a share, valuing the company at $13.7 billion.

Shares of the grocer were trading at $33.06 a share before the deal was announced, so the deal represents a 27% premium on its closing price yesterday.

Amazon buys everything. I wonder if they are going to incorporate it into their Prime Pantry or Amazon Fresh program somehow.

Keep feeding the giants so they grow ever larger. That will be good for giving us many choices. Wal-Azon - no access without a microchip implanted into your brain.

I am sure they will start offering some shipping options with organic foods and such forth..... whole foods already has a delivery service they use. Amazon will probably replace it.

WF started pushing their delivery service in my area through instacart. There is a $15 credit + free delivery on the first delivery with a low minimum, $30 or $35. Costco stock took a hit after this Amazon/WF announcement.

Keep regulating, taxing, increasing min. wage, etc. and the big will get bigger as new/small competitors are priced out of the market

Whole Foods was failing anyways. When one moved in near us, both local Fred Meyer stores basically just started selling the same crap, but cheaper. Now the Whole Foods parking lot is half full on a good day.
