This study shows that being business-friendly is not simply a matter of being liberal or conservative, as many political simpletons would like to believe.

The top 5 states:

1. Washington
2. Georgia
3. Minnesota
4. Texas
5. North Carolina

The bottom 5 states:

46. Maine

Best state for business? Business is a non-descript term to the point of being purely rhetoric and useless when used in this context...

We're full. Please move to the other four states, thanks.

"In other words, an average of 236 people are moving to the Seattle area each day..."

Seattle region’s population growing at historic pace, making biggest annual gain in a century

California is 49th in cost of doing business. That's about right. Best state to live in, 2nd worst state to live. Thanks Moonbeam

Seacove, checkout this info provided by gov to help us understand the data.

It explains why the estimates may be well out of whack and in my view likely to be grossly overestimating population growth. pages 8,9 10 show it fast and easy.

WA is #32 for cost of doing business, #31 for business friendliness, #37 for cost of living. So what, exactly, makes it such a great state for business? WA, like CA, has one major thing going for it-the natural environment. Ocean shoreline, Cascade Mountains, Puget Sound. Yet WA politicians are managing to ruin the state and make it less and less attractive. High min wage. Oppressive regulations and taxes, especially "labor and industry".

They are keeping their state clean, sustainable and giving people a chance to survive with a living wage. You can be a business in California or Washington and move to Texas, where there are no regulations, you are free to pollute and hire minimum wage, disposable workers, and pay little in taxes, but at the end of the day, you are still living in Texas.

I love conservatives from California or Washington who come on here and complain, the thought of them leaving for their conservative paradise in Texas or some other rightwing destination with all the things conservatives love aint gonna happen, cause they aint gonna give up living on a state that is beautiful and progressive and has a good standard of living that they suck up.

Oh yea, speaking of business, compare Minnesota, run by a brilliant Democratic Governor who has raised not only taxes but spending on education, with that of the great conservative hero next door in Wisconsin, Scott Walker. Compare job growth under his conservative model with that of Minnesota.

If you really want a laugh, check out Sam Brownback, another conservative savior, in Kansas. These models of tax breaks for the ultra wealthy meaning more jobs for the middle class only works on gullible Republicans.
