That is heartbreaking. I am glad that he ended up being with his family at the end.

His parents must be devastated. So very sad!!

This world have much evil.
The doctors said there are no signs of physical mistreatment. But I don't believe he stole the poster and he had been in this condition since April 2016, they kept his condition a secret for over 1 year.

North Korea has almost no friends left. Malaysia was as close to N Korea as any country and they ended all diplomatic relations last year. China has started imposing sanctions on N Korea and N Korea responded by saying China is the US's puppet.

He was brain dead. That just doesn't happen at such a young age. His father knows he was mistreated and stated so.

This boy made a terrible mistake by going there. Otto must have suffered emotionally knowing he was alone and in an enemy country with no one there for him. We can't fathom what it is to have all your freedoms taken , jailed and beaten. He was just a kid looking for an adventure. It went horribly wrong for him.

Obama should have fought harder to bring him home in the beginning. They told the parents to lay low and not do anything. That did not help.

I'm sure the CIA is capable of ridding the world of the pest that runs NK. The world needs to stop tolerating brutal dictators.

North Korea murdered an American citizen. They tortured him to death.

They only released him because they knew he was going to die soon, and didn't want him to die while in their custody. Now they can blame the hospital care he received in America for his death.

Drop some bombs on NK!!!

North Korea was suddenly so eager to get him back to the U. S. They knew he was about to die and didn't want it to happen while they were still holding him. My guess is, that they gave him a concoction of mind-control drugs, to get him to make scripted statements for the cameras and being such amateurs, overdosed him, causing cardiac arrest and brain damage.

Sympathies go to his family and friends. But the organizers of this ill-conceived tour should be held accountable, if only to discourage any future entry into that pitiful excuse for a country. South Korea is much more powerful and has almost infinitely more backing from allies. It's time they stopped being neutral and do what is needed to solve what should mostly be their own problem. For 57 years they've made it our problem, costing us many young lives and billions of dollars.

So, the death penalty is okay with you for a taking a $5.00 poster? What a cruel inhuman statement.

The supposed evidence on the kid stealing the poster is highly questionable. I doubt he even stole the poster. Even if he did, it's the sort of thing that would get someone a small fine or at most a few days in a soft jail in the civilized world.
