Some cities have programs where addicts can go to a fire station and they will be set up with help and rehab immediately. They will not be arrested if they are high or holding drugs but treated as a sick person who needs help. This is a good start. Of course sometimes addicts are beyond saving and that is sad but sometimes there is underlying mental illness.

Yes, it's all the fault of "Big Pharma" that people choose to shoot heroin and smoke crack.

They give out narcan here to cops and friends of drug addicts. So people do their drugs, get the narcan, go to the ED where they scream, spit and yell at the staff for ruining their high, then walk out, then come back the next day or even the same day for overdosing. They do this until they eventually just die. It's not a start of anything.

Morality?

Yeah, morality cures those on the Schizophrenia spectrum.

Not true. Look it up.

It most definitely is true.

Why lie about it?

Maybe you might consider doing some homework on typical mental institutions. Treated? Cared for? Protected ?

More like kept behind locked doors. Out of sight. Out of mind.

Red and blue states shuttered public facilities because of funding issues.

Same deal happened throughout the developed world

Opium poppies were grown for medicinal purposes as far back as 3400 BC in SW Asia. Opium addiction is more than 5000 years old.

The way the story goes is the Brits smuggled opium into China resulting in an astounding percentage of addicted people eventually resulting in the Opium Wars.

Bayer created the process of converting morophine to Heroin in the 1800's. MDs used to prescribe it. It became illegal in the 1920's.

A percentage of current Heroin addicts began their journey with using opioids for recreational purposes. Heroin is a better bang for the buck.

Heroin can be smoked, snorted, packed and injected, no diff than pills.

It's sad what drugs can do to people.

Addiction knows no party, no politics. Conservatives, progressives, independents....

A lot of Americans deal with or know someone who deals with addiction. It's a difficult thing......watching somebody destroy themselves.
