Yup, seems to be nearly a daily occurrence these days. Curious why this wasn't stopped in gun toting Arkansas though. I thought red states were safer from mass shootings due to everyone having guns?
Well, the NRA said that more guns would solve the problem.
Well then let's go back to those pesky old statistics and see what they have to say, hmm?
2015 Firearms Murder Rate (FBI Census) vs Gun Ownership Rates - There is no correlation whatsoever. Gun ownership ranged from nearly 0 to 60% across all 50 states and the plot of firearms murder rates hovered around the average of roughly 3 per 100,000 across that entire spectrum of gun ownership. The curve is flat.
In Tx where gun laws have been continuously relaxed (concealed carry and now open carry) major cities have seen firearms murder rates steadily decreasing far faster than the national average. A national average that I should remind you is ALSO dropping.
While there is no provable causality between increased gun ownership and a safer society, there is a hard existence proof that it is NOT making our society more dangerous. Your sarcastic implication to the contrary is busted by that frustrating old math.
Why should anyone care about these people? We didn't care about elementary school kids, gays in nightclubs, movie theater patrons, office workers, postal workers, black people in cars minding their own business, tv new reporters...
America, as a nation and culture, has collectively decided that all of these people not only are acceptable deaths, but that they needed to die as a fundamental reflection of the importance of the 2nd Amendment. There is no constitutional amendment more sacred, no principle more patriotic, no right more revered. America's pastime isn't baseball. It's shooting someone and then waxing poetic about all the violence (while doing absolutely nothing about it).
