Reservations filled up in mid 2016 for the G-20 -- many of the Security Services demand the entire Hotel for the exclusive use of a World Leader - just as they always did for President Obama. How clumsy of President Trump to not have made his reservations when he had not even won the Republican Primary. I guess there was nobody in Washington D.C. at the State Department or in White House Travel that made reservations in 2016 for the 2017 Summit ...... or perhaps they just released the rooms they had reserved for the Presumptive Queen when she failed to earn her Crown.
Added to all that - the G-20 attracts Anarchists from around the world, it was expected that 10,000 would come to Hamburg to "protest" the G-20. It is 10 times that amount -- 100,000. The City and all hotels are wrapped in layers of Barb Wire, Fencing, Police squads - the Anarchist began burning last week. They brought out the Water Cannons and Bear Spray today. It looks like a War Zone.

This is the G20 summit, not a Presidential visit so the onus is on those visiting to organise their own accommodation.

The city (Hamburg) was known but the dates were not set in February 2016.
Note that the 2018 G20 Summit will be in Buenos Aires but as of today (June 2017) the dates are still TBD,
