The car was unlocked. There was no "breaking." Unfortunately, what the cop did was probably not even illegal. The government killed the 4th Amendment long ago (just like the 2nd). NJ once had a very strong anti-search law but a few years ago the NJ Supreme Court eliminated it. Now, like most places in the country, a cop needs almost no reason to seach you car. In fact, they can legally make up the reason after they search your car.
Now you know as well as I do that retiredcop only sees blue. It doesn't matter what race the cop is and what the circumstances are. The cop is right. Period.
Definitely true, but I've ignored that poster, and I was referring to some of the other posters on this forum who would be frothing at the mouth if the situation was flipped.
If I get into someone else's vehicle for no reason, it is a criminal offense. If a cop does it, it is OK? Do I have that straight?.......... Why, retired cop?

I never said the cop was correct in why he was searching that vehicle. How many times do I have to say the same thing over and over. He may be 100% wrong with his actions. However I would be willing to place a bet that there is a hell of a lot more to this story than just some "random" search. I would like to know more to pass judgement.

If a cop got into mine, I would try to file charges. With the way things are, a prosecutor would most likely refuse, but I have a friend who is a newspaper publisher. It would be all over the paper. The last prosecutor in my county that got caught doing favors lost reelection. He lost 20% to 80% to a political newcomer. He had been in office 20 years.
If it was justified he could of spoken with the owner of the vehicle insteadof slinking away like a kid with his hands on the cookie jar. But blacks are second hand citizens so it's ok.
Hilarious and sad how people will judge as individuals unless they are black or Muslim and sometimes Hispanic. Then all the excuses start flowing.
