Several groups are now planning a ‘kneel-in protest’ in Uptown Charlotte tonight before the Panther’s game.

Charlotte’s Pastors and Community Leaders Coalition, led by Bishop Kevin Long of Temple Church International, is planning to have at least 500 people kneel in protest outside of the stadium while the national anthem is playing.

The coalition sent out a statement last night saying that the goal of the kneel-in is to highlight “police brutality, lack of accountability for officers who’ve killed innocent and/or unarmed citizens, and the high rates of unemployment for minorities.”

Kneel-In Protest Planned For Tonight's Prime-Time Panthers Game in Uptown Charlotte - Charlotte Stories

"These people need to protest peacefully"

"These people need to protest where it doesn't affect my ability to watch a game".

"These people need to............................"

Go ahead, fill in the blank.
LOL! Fill in the Blank? Why not just use the R-Word.

I live in Charlotte. The CMPD is minority run, the Police Chief is a Black Man, and they report to a Democrat majority city council and Democrat Mayor. The same Mayor, BTW, who started the whole HB2 business. Can't get any more liberal than this.

This is nothing but a dog & pony show. A local TV station did a poll and found that 86% of the City, which BTW is a Blue City, is against politicizing a football game. The comments are on the mark and reflect that.

Always with the spin. It matters not how you see this. Left/right. Blue/red. Liberal/Conservative. Republican/Democrat.......this is all you can see.

Spin? Nope.

Tell me one thing I said about Charlotte that isn't true?

I thought so.

He has not forced Goodell to do anything. What ever becomes policy will be decided between both the owners and the players.

What you said about Charlotte shows that it isn't about politics and all the things you try and pretend it's about.

Indeed.

And now that the local evening news is on in Charlotte, that silly dog & pony show is getting no coverage. What is getting coverage are the tailgaters who are saying to take the politics out of it.

So the thread about Trump refusing to honor the US Flag during Retreat got locked, I'm guessing we're meant to discuss it here?

The guy had no clue what Retreat even was. He thought they were playing music to honor Hannity's ratings. Absolutely disgusting behavior for a US citizen, and this man is the Commander in Chief.

He should watch how Robin Williams handled himself in a similar situation.

Wonder if things would be different if Rush had not failed as a sports writer? For those who don't know, Rush started out as a sports writer following the Royals for the KC Star. He was awful and was let go. A friend of mine covered them for our local paper. He said that no one liked Rush. And it was not politics, my friend was a staunch Republican. He could not stand Rush.
