Last night Sixty Minutes broadcast a segment dealing with H-1b visa abuse. Many of our larger corporations have been trimming their payrolls by bringing in foreigners to take American IT and engineering jobs. With the assistance of consulting firms that bring in visa holders, corporations replace their American workers and make their severance package dependent on them training their Indian replacements. One older IT worker likened it to making one dig his own grave. All of the IT workers that they interviewed in the segment looked to be older workers.

Disney and HCL were sued in Orlando by Leo Pererro last year. HCL won a motion to dismiss and it appears that the basis for the law suit, the RICO laws were never mentioned by the judge.

CBS has treated this like it is news, but this has been going on for twenty years.
