An excellent article worthy of a read! The real issue of favoritism in places like Harvard is not minorities; it's rich, well-connected white guys like Jared Kushner.
When it was time for little Jared to go to college, guess what multi-millionaire daddy did? He made a nice, big $2.5M to Harvard and got his US senator to contact another US senator to arrange a chat with Harvard's dean of admissions.
Lo and behold, his son got in!
This despite Jared not being exemplary in any academic sense...
Quote:
“There was no way anybody in the administrative office of the school thought he would on the merits get into Harvard,” a former school official told me. “His GPA did not warrant it, his SAT scores did not warrant it. We thought for sure, there was no way this was going to happen. Then, lo and behold, Jared was accepted. It was a little bit disappointing because there were at the time other kids we thought should really get in on the merits, and they did not” ...
Now, I'm sure there are rich liberal / Democrat types who have played this game as well. But isn't the narrative how Trump and his ilk are "salt of the earth" types to identify with the working class? Don't be an idiot. They ARE blue-blooded elitists, and they don't play by the same rules as the rest of us.
If you're going to "investigate" discrimination against whites getting into places like Harvard, be sure to also "investigate" cases of elitist favoritism with equal fervor.
When you live in the land of the elites that's the way its done. A fine looking native will fan you as you sip a Long Island Ice Tea.
In school you might have to crack a book once in a while and read a page or two but you will pass. That's the system we have.
Blue collar Billionaires like Trump are rare. We are lucky to have him and his clan. Its not a problem.
Another 2 wrongs make a right thread. Why can we not treat this like a 2nd problem? Why is rich parents being used to justify the wrongdoing of the college admissions based on skin color?

What the hell is a "Blue Collar Billionaire?". Do you not get what an oxymoron that is? Jesus, it's like you people have Stockholm syndrome or something.
Trump is a rich kid who came from a rich daddy. His family was very influential and well-connected. Trump grew up in private clubs and exclusive schools. He has never done a real day's blue collar work in his life.
All he has learned to do is tell you things that you like to hear, which his actions say he doesn't believe in or he can't possibly deliver. It's called "demagogue" in your dictionary.
What does that have to do with affirmative action?
Both have to do with people un-deservingly getting into elite schools. The point is that Trump and his ilk have their own version of it - it's called bribery.

Both are wrong, correct?
