Not sure why he "thanked" Putin. That's the real stupid part of his tweet.

These employees won't lose their jobs but will be reassigned to other posts unless an official downsizing action with RIF happens at State.

As evilcart says, the only likely sufferers are the Russian nationals employed there.

Oddly enough its a backhanded insult thats very....Russian.

Basically it says "hey you meant to harm me, but you helped me". Its a great way to throw shade at him. And it fits in with Russian humor in a way thats hard to describe.

And probably 100% unintentional.

The final eight words of Trump's tweet, and the ability to employ a bit of comprehension, is the key.

Yes, a backhanded slap to Putin's "move". Just another example of how the lefties will do, say, cry about anything Trump does. Trump could hand them everything they want, they'll still stiff and fetch like idiots in a hail storm, because it isn't their annointed messiah.

Trump failed to stop the sanctions imposed on Russia by the Congress. Putin thought he was punishing Trump. Trump is too ignorant to realize that so he praises Putin. Putin knows that for whatever reason he owns Donald Trump. That is good enough for him.

The ejected employees will go to work elsewhere in the State Department that Trump is, under the direction of Bannon, is trying to destroy.

The man is a traitor, cowering before his overlord Putin. Can't he stand up for our country once in awhile?

But the response throws some shade at Putin in a almost Russian humor fashion.

Hitler liked dogs. I do too. Doesn't mean I like the man.

Anyone who thinks you're a Trump supporter is losing it. The fact that you understand this is refreshing because it shows that not everyone on the left is mentally gone.

Comprehension skills seem to be dying or have died off for many of the "more educated than you knuckle dragging right wingers" leftists.

Good thing is that this thread reveals who on the left has a working brain and who doesn't.

Default Trump thanks Russia for cutting US Embassy staff

Of course Trump fan-boys will defend this childish "I didn't want it anyways" response.

Trump thanks Putin for cutting US diplomats: 'We want to reduce our payroll' | TheHill

President Trump thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday for ordering the U.S. to cut its diplomatic staff by 755 people, his first public comments on the extraordinary move by Moscow in response to new sanctions legislation that Trump signed into law.

Trump said he was thanking Putin because the decision allows the U.S. government to "cut down our payroll."

“I want to thank him because we’re trying to cut down our payroll and as far as I’m concerned I’m very thankful that he let go of a large number of people because now we have a smaller payroll," Trump told reporters at his Bedminster, N.J. golf club.

"There’s no real reason for them to go back. I greatly appreciate the fact that we’ve been able to cut our payroll of the United States," he continued. "We’re going to save a lot of money.”

Trump would be obliged to thank Putin if Putin took a dump on Trump's shoes. Trump is a coward that is being blackmailed and that is a very ugly and pathetic combo.
