It appears these meetings were turned down and that it wasn't until Russia promised to deliver Clinton dirt that a meeting was granted by Jr.
My take is these emails do not exonerate the Trump Team. In fact I believe it shows the team knew full well that certain types of contacts were not permitted. This puts JR in a worse light along with Kushner, and Manafort since it helps prove Team Trump knew full well certain contacts were improper for a private citizen.
