Tearing down statues of those who took up arms against the United States is not getting rid of history, it is simply not celebrating those who took up arms against the United States.
To me tearing down is erasing. I just don't get how people want to destroy history just because it is "unpleasant" to them. Our history is what shaped America today and that includes the good, the bad and the ugly!

I have no problem with it in a museum or something along those lines, but we shouldn't be celebrating Confederates with statues on public and government property.
