These jobs that you posit are going begging are mainly in a technology or associated fields. Many job openings require not just a bachelor's degree but an advanced degree with significant experience in a specialization. As I posted before, most folks nowadays don't have the intellect and drive to master these difficult fields and even if they did, they may lack the temperament.

And both parties (the "duopoly") have bought into the globalist agenda and throwing more money at the educational establishment for "retraining."

Actually from what I am hearing, the ability to pass a drug test. Industry takes safety seriously and if they dont, their insurance company does x 100000000. A drugged up dude running a 300 ton crane is a recipe for disaster.

NOT TRUE.

Millions of manufacturing jobs that require no college degrees are begging for workers. Yes, one often needs to learn new skill and be certified, but these are NOT jobs that require college degrees.

As Skill Requirements Increase, More Manufacturing Jobs Go Unfilled

Millions of Manufacturing Jobs Could Go Unfilled

I actually read an article a while back how one company was hiring immigrants and refugees b/c they couldn't find qualified applicants who could pass a pee test...Sad...but instead we hear how it's all the globalists fault....

The articles cited are from Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal. They are propaganda organs for the globalists.

The government should put in place the most reliable and cheapest energy source for factories. If it costs 5 cent per kw in China it should be 1 cent here.

You can be the hardest-working person on the planet, but you will not be able to compete with modern technology and automation. The US has led, and continues to lead productivity, but you can't compete in 2017 with 1983 technology. It doesn't matter how hard you work, it's just not possible.

People on the oil-patch, in the steel mills, even in the coal mines can have work, and they are not afraid of labor, but they'll have to embrace modern technology to remain relevant, or someone else will. I hope that "someone else" is an American worker.
the real problem is that the percentage of miners who can learn to become skilled tech workers is not high at all. Mining, construction etc are all good honorable jobs, but they are often filled with the folks who have an average IQ. Tech requires about a 120 IQ and up up up . You can work really hard and make it but frankly the guy with the 125 IQ works really hard too...

let me be clear i am not saying they are dumb i am saying much of the new work requires well above average IQ. 20 years ago we were happy hiring bright hard working folk, today we do not even interview them. today we need very bright hard working people. and tomorrow we may not need many of them .

We see smart, honest hard working folk simple out of their depth. People who we have had for over a decade and even more find themselves struggling to keep up. We have helped retain them by allowing them to step down a level or two, or slot them into a less technical role that requires experience.
But the grim reality is that the work gets more demanding not less. and many employees have simply chosen to move on rather than be pushed and some come back in different areas or as contractors..

so when i hear "retraining" i ask as what? what can a miner or floor worker with a normal IQ be retrained to do ? we have a lot more people looking to retrain than positions to be them in.

He said over there the tool shops are gigantic, all state of the art and everything is done in house. These huge plants all got their start from government subsidies.

Now that US companies have refined their processes, and the Chinese companies encounter higher production costs the gap is getting closer. Time is the issue now. Especially in automotive when the OEMS's are trying to get down to an 24 month or less design cycle. It takes time to ship those tools across the pond.

The shame of it all is we pretty much gave away a 26 billion dollar a year industry.

Mould and Die Industry Report China And Global Region 2013-2015 Industry Shares, Size, Trend,
we subsidize industry on a massive scale and have done so for many decades. The Eu does it, china does it, we do it. We made sure nobody could compete with us in a bunch of sectors and they we pretend china is a bad actor for doing exactly what we do.

doubt it? take a look at the billions in tax breaks the likes of Boeing get. take a look at the cost plus supplying of our military and R&D .. it provides state revs to major contractors that then compete in other sectors where they can carry losses for decades because sam is paying the overhead.

everyone cheats, and we here in the USA are masters at it.
