The guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (nicknamed Big Bad John) was involved in a collision with a merchant vessel east of Singapore and the Strait of Malacca, the 7th Fleet announced in a tweet.
No immediate word on any casualties. Search and rescue efforts are under way in coordination with local authorities, the Navy said.
Initial reports indicate the warship sustained damage to its port side aft.
I hope all are safe - but this should not happen.
"Search and rescue efforts are under way" does not bode well.
What in the blazes is going on in the Navy? This is two collisions in the space of a few months! Where are the watchstanders that are supposed to monitor radar systems? Where are the lookouts with binoculars that are posted forward and aft and on both sides of the bridge?
The first one was strange enough, now a second one, I'm starting to wonder if there's something they aren't telling us.
China is unhappy with this US navy ship operating in area. My take is: they sabotaged the US ship. It's a
common cold war tactic to ram the enemy's ship. Maybe the Chinese control the people who operate the
other ship.
