Though I am a Democrat, I find Kasich impressive. I like his intelligence, common sense, maturity, calm demeanor, sense of decorum, and evident approachability - those are all personal characteristics which are highly desirable in a president.
I know little about Hickenlooper, but obviously am going to have to get up to speed pretty fast.
Of course I would need to study the platform of any party before I would decide how to cast my vote. But I would not rule out voting for a third party, under the right circumstances.

This. Although his stance on abortion and other women's issues concern me.
Comes down to "Would you consider throwing your vote away?" No, I would not.
We are ways yet from a viable 3rd party. Maybe a good 3 Presidential elections anyway. They could never raise enough funding. And, someone is floating the idea of Kasich and some person I don't know, yeah, that would work, NOT!
I voted for the Reform Party back in the 90's - or at least, I voted for the Reform Party candidate. I won't vote for an overnight party again.
If Kasich and whats-his-face really want to get a third party off the ground, they need to start working in the upcoming 2018 elections, putting together viable candidates at both the state and federal levels across the country. The last time a true national political party was formed, it took six years, four election seasons, and a serious schism in the main party, for the new political party to achieve victory. The last time there was an actual chance of a new major party emerging was the dawn of the 20th century - they gave it a good try, but were mostly irrelevant within 20 years.
