It is obvious he will say anything to gain favor.
When confronted, he will evade or tell you that you were basically stupid to believe him to begin with.
Sites that track 'truth' consistently evaluate what Trump says or promises and 90% is out right lies or twisted/spun to some degree.
You can not believe anything he says. He will say one thing one day and something totally different the next.
This is not 'fake news' or fantasy. The whole 'Mexico will pay for the wall' to 'I will shut down government if congress does not fund the wall in the US budget' .... is just one prime example.
This is not something you can just write off as eccentric, or character.
Credibility is based on as least some truth and following through on promises. Right now, no world leader can take out government seriously. The people that elected him can not take him seriously.
He is a fraud and charlatan in the truest sense of the world. If he lived in the old west he would be selling snake oil.
And is nothing new, he's been doing this since campaigning. Surely, since he was very young he established this habitual behavior and is so emotionally damaged and otherwise flawed. He could never have authentic relationships and you see how he has conditioned family members to act accordingly.
The assumption was to some that he was a "big personality" and "financially successful" who might actually make a difference, yet many could see through him even then, besides there openly having been negative information regarding his past. It's funny how some can analyze and assess what is going on and others simply cannot OR amazingly, that honesty is not a priority to them.
How some can support such negative characteristics exhibited, such as being self-serving, bullying, underhanded, loud, obnoxious, disingenuous, insensitive and more - is beyond comprehension.
Obama, who was one of the most honest Presidents in American history per Polifact, is being compared to Trump, the most lying politician in recorded history, per Polifact.
The cult will never disavow their God Trump, even if he murdered their family on livefeed. They would claim "It's Obama in a Trump costume" or "Yeah Trump killed my family, but they were all libturds. MAGA!"

It sounds like you are describing Obama. Did you express similar outrage, or did his lies appeal to you?
I think some don't realize what a lie is versus a misstatement due to insufficient knowledge/information. During Trump's campaign, he didn't have full information on what was going on behind the scenes, didn't have the opportunity to dive into top secret information, consult with experts, etc.
In order for it to be a lie, Trump would have had to known when he said it that it was untrue and his intention would have been to deceive voters/supporters. I don't think there was much of that, and don't know of anything specific.
Obama lied so many times that I can understand why the next POTUS to follow him would be suspected of lying. And, then, there was Hillary Clinton................
