Where's the appeal in that?

There's nothing to promote. The place is an episode of Life Below Freezing.
You move to where the work is just like every unemployed person did throughout history. Maybe you learn something along the way and move up and out.

I hopefully I stated this before, but i saved for years to pay off the majority of the car so that my loan payments would be at 200 dollars(what I wanted to budget for a car payment)

I dont run my HVAC unit 24/7 in the summer, so my energy bill is below 100 dollars.

my heealth insurance,as well as dental, vision, and independent saving(other companies call this rainy day or Christmas fund) and retirement are through my company and all add up to 40 dollars per pay period.

internet, tv, phone are bundldes, so its like 160 a month. And i paid for my cell phone out right so that i wasnt paying ridiculous interest like most people. ($300 one time payment on cyber monday instead of 900 after interest for a 24 month plan). That also meant i could use a 40 dollar gophone rate instead of the 60 dollar normal rate.

water and trash pick up is about 40 dollars give or take a dollar for water usage.

I cut my own grass and the lawnmower was 150. And it only takes about 2 gallons to cut a months worth of gas, so 5 bucks a month.

again, im still trying to see where the stretch is ?????
If I use Illinois, after 20% for taxes (which would be a generous tax burden)...

$800 1BR
$200 car note
$75 cell phone
$400 food
$150 all utilities

That's $300 left over. That's without spending anything on heath insurance, car insurance, gas, 401k contribution, or post tax savings contribution.

That doesn't cover incidentals, discretionary spending, cable, or going out funds, so this is strictly necessities. That's 15% of your take home to cover everything else in your life. And that's just you, no one else.

That's a tight rope to walk for most adults.

When we visited ND a couple of years ago we stayed in a name brand hotel that had about 60 rooms out of over 300 open for travelers. This was after the oil wells were drilled and only needed to be maintained. So there is plenty of room even for temporary workers. Where and what are all these jobs?

I looked at the $16/hr wage and asked myself where does this person live and how do they survive on surplus RME's let alone how do they heat their home in winter? Is natural gas free?

I would like to revisit the state because it looked very interesting. I do not need lots of trees to enjoy the scenery. I imagine once you are out of town the night sky must be spectacular. I would definitely not want to visit, or even think about living in, North Dakota between December and April. That cold combined with a wind directly from the North Pole would keep me in my cave, deep in my cave, for those months.

And where do you live while you look for a job in that new place? Why make yourself homeless on purpose? Employers usually don't want to hire homeless people.

Amid all the boomtime plenty, however, is a housing affordability crisis. North Dakota saw a 200 percent jump in homelessness last year, the biggest increase of any state. There are now 2,069 homeless people in the state of 699,628, according to data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. That translates into 28.6 homeless people per 10,000. The national average is 19.

Spouse suggests large pockets to hold enough rocks to keep from being blown away.

Also, best to go right away while one can still enjoy the lovely fall weather. Once the ice storms and blizzards start, the place isn't quite as attractive.

The thought of being homeless in North Dakota is a shivering experience.

Their only hope is global warming,

Here are California's income tax brackets
https://www.tax-brackets.org/californiataxtable
On $51,000 a year, North Dakota has an income tax of 2% while socialist, California liberals tax at 10.2% with a 9.3% state income tax rate and a 0.9% additional SDI tax so that they European style maternity leave through the SDI program.
Not quite right... The effective tax rate in California for a salary of $51,000 is actually 3.57% and is $1,857. Most people don't complain about SDI because it's a nice safety net if you become disabled while working, it pays up to $1216 a week for a max of 52 weeks. But to get a fair comparison throw in Property tax which for a $250,000 home in Fargo North Dakota is $3,549. In Sacramento California it is $2,192

You can look up taxes for any locality in the US right here, it's pretty accurate:

So $16.83 an hour is a "good job"? wow..
It sure is since the minimum wage in N. Dakota is $7.25 an hour.
