It doesn't bother me much. It doesn't take rules handed down by the church to be a good person. Some things are just self evident when a person reaches a certain level of personal development. I myself am agnostic, though I acknowledge the idea of reincarnation and existence of the soul. There's too many convincing stories out there with specific details to ignore. Many of them are quite compelling.
I was raised catholic. I never really believed the dogma about the Bible. To me its just a collection of stories written about a highly evolved or enlightened man and then revised over the years and twisted as a way to control people. Most of the things written are not Jesus words and were merely written by men trying to understand something they couldn't possibly experience for themselves... Spiritual enlightenment.
"...in 1976, fully 81 percent of Americans identified as white and members of a Christian denomination. Today it's only 43 percent."
I found it somewhat telling the author, who is obviously antagonistic to "white Christians", uses Christian synonymously with evangelical at various times in the article.

^^^This^^^ pretty much sums it up for me as well. Excellent post.
This got me...I had no idea that evangelicals had been so marginalized

That's what a racist immigration policy will do for you. How do you plan to undo it, EvilEye?
Surely you don't approve of race replacement -- or do you?
