Excellent point. That is how all taxes on businesses work.

Carbon 'fees', 'taxes'- biggest scam ever perpetrated on the public. Worse than 'red light cameras are for your safety'

Pretty much. Maybe we should place a carbon tax on their dividends and see how complying they are.

Why can't a business just do the right thing on their own?
Actually our carbon tax is doing just what it was meant to....Emissions are down, we now have the lowest income tax rate in Canada and the strongest economy.

Oil companies have always been on the leading edge pushing for climate change legislation because they stand to benefit most from it. The carbon exchange is where the real money is to be made and they will be the primary beneficiaries.

America:
1990 to 2014 (24 years) greenhouse gas emissions increased by 9%.
Methane decreased by 6%
NOX decreased by 1%
Flourinated gases increased by 77%, but they make up a tiny portion of total emissions.

We'll be fine. The peak years were around 2007.

Where does this come from? Big oil have been the ones financing the climate change skeptics for years.

Of course they're pushing it--they are the ones who make money from the scam! The energy businesses who produce the most emissions get "credit" for those emissions, and under the new system get PAID when they just reduce production of that pollutant--or when they SELL those "rights" to pollute.

Big Government just gets a big cut of every new thieving scheme they come up with.

Why would emissions be down?
