The only wall that's going to be built is the one you have dreamed up in your minds. The government can't even get funding to rebuild one NY-NJ river tunnel, what makes you think they'll start building almost a 2000 mile long wall when they can't build a ~2 mileong tube?
Go after the EMPLOYERS, treat the underlying disease, not the symptoms! Hire more ICE to remove those that stay, and hire more CBP to prevent them from crossing over. Those are very practical, and effective. Can be done quickly.

It's a feel good talking point that appeases the far right. And they believe it, so it serves its purpose. But I agree, this silly wall will never get any further than a talking point to get the base all excited. And it shouldn't.
The only people who will make money on the wall is the company that gets the contract for the feasibility or engineering study. That will be millions and a few years to tell us it can't be done.

You're probably right, but "give it up, cons?" Gloating much? Does it make you feel better about yourself? Unbrainwashed, really?
I'm a lifelong conservative, and I thought the wall was a dumb idea. But while we're being mindlessly partisan, just one example - do you think Hillary was actually going to make college free/debt-free when we "can't even get funding to rebuild one NY-NJ river tunnel?"
"Let’s … make debt-free college available to everyone. ... And let’s liberate the millions of Americans who already have student debt." Hillary, June 22, 2016
I am not sure what purpose all the willfully ignorant partisan garbage, both right and left, that appears on this sub forum is meant to accomplish. It just increases the divide...

Exactly. I think only the furthest right takes the whole thing literally anyway because there are lots of other ways for illegals to get across.
They need to set up a better guest worker program like Canada has and then hammer employers that violate it.
I'm a little amused that inability to produce on campaign promises is suddenly this noteworthy new thing. Might play well to people under the age of 30 that are just now paying attention to politics but "close Guantanamo" and a host of stuff about getting us out of wars then surge baby surge....and of course letting the health insurers write most of ACA wasn't what voters envisioned in 2008. All in all, Obama didn't do a bad job but much like Trump he rolled into office with the house and senate and didn't get his stuff past what at the time were called Blue Dog democrats.
Has everyone here forgotten that? We're basically repeating a lot Obama's first year where his own party stopped or reduced his plans.
But as long as they LOOK like they're doing something the cult will be happy. They're easily fooled. I don't think there can be any debate about that, considering who they voted for and continue to believe in the face of his many, many lies. Just tell them what they want to hear and it's all good. No need to ever actually do anything beyond that. They'll believe anything that comes out of Trump's mouth.
True. Now if we could only get your cult to realize the same, life would be much more reasonable.

About half the illegal immigrants just overstayed their visas. So the wall was a very expensive symbol anyway, not a real deterrent. Trump fooled more people than Hillary, they both made promises they couldn't begin to keep like all politicians have to - that's what the electorate votes for. The left just gets to be the opposition for a while, they're no better or worse. We get what we deserve.

"The wall" was nothing more or less than a grandstanding feel-good stunt from day 1. Won't make us measurably safer and in many ways will make things worse.
Just ask Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada, who is the law in Nogales, Arizona.
