Well, nothing. But this is irrationality, which knows no bounds. It doesn't matter what actually IS, what matters is subjective, sensitive feelings.
It's a lot easier to understand if you don't try and apply any logic, reason, truth, or reality to it and just let it be.
I wouldn't really care but no one challenges these people. There is no one to ask him "What do you mean by that?"
It sucks because there were probably a lot of people in that audience that disagree with him but they must remain silent or else risk the Hollywood blacklist.

They are probably worried about being labeled a "racist" by their colleagues if they questioned him .

I agree, it is concerning in that these people tend to be style-setters for much of the country. We, as a society in general, are slowly but surely abandoning the need to ask the "what do you mean?" type questions that you mentioned. And these ideas of oppressor and oppressed, of collectivism over individualism, of internalized / unconscious everything are becoming more prevalent every day.
I believe once you start accepting a few of the tenets of this post-modern way of thinking uncritically, it's like quicksand pulling your mind into accepting all manner of other intersectional social constructivist tenets.
This is going to become a dominant feature of Western culture and philosophy (some could argue it's already there). This is the way the world is going. Reality is not going to be what it used to be.
