Ask not what can't be done to prevent all violence. Ask what can be done to prevent any violence.
No law can prevent all that such laws are aimed to prevent, but not to have such laws in place and enforced to whatever extent possible is not the mark of an advanced modern society.
Can't rid ourselves of what makes for gangs or cocaine or heroin, crack or meth, but that we not have laws making clear these things are illegal, that allow law enforcement to prevent whatever they can when reported or observed? Of course not!
None of those things should be illegal to possess in the first place. The war on drugs has cost the United States more than some foreign wars we've been involved in. At last count, it's around $1 Trillion that we have invested in a program that does nothing but put non-violent offenders in prison and destroy their families.
You presume incorrectly, and you misrepresent what I have written by claiming it's "abstract." You can't really quote just one of my comments after all prior and use that one comment as if that's all I have written. Before I bother any further or repeat myself any more, I'm curious about your moniker. Does the tag you chose have anything to do with guns?
Also, do you know what weapons Paddock used? That might be a good place for you to start if you want the specifics I am referring to...
You're the gift that just keeps on giving aren't you?

Well, I can only think of what will prevent me from getting killed. I stay away from dangerous neighborhoods(regardless of what ethnicity inhabits the area. I would never want to step foot in many parts of East LA or Compton). No law has stopped violent people from getting guns. How do we address a culture of violence? That is something that no one asks.
The argument "we have to do something" even if it's totally futile is lame as well.
True, if doing anything is "totally futile," but that assumption or argument on your part is not universally agreed upon.
As explained in my prior comments, this that gun enthusiasts simply can't entertain as reason or logic, what we can do in the way of laws and/or prevention may not be as successful as we would like, the results very difficult to measure in any case, because it's very hard to measure what we are able to prevent, but we have the laws and we enforce them the best we can regardless, for a variety of reasons.
Like the fact that bombs are illegal. Doesn't mean people won't find other ways to kill people, but by making bombs illegal, we give law enforcement the right to do something when anyone suspects someone making or using bombs. Makes some sense to me anyway...
So, again, you cannot logically draw the conclusion that you are attempting to draw based off of "the numbers that you posted".
Sure you can. The number of guns owned by Americans increases by 50%. At the same time, the rate of gun homicides decreases by 50%, and the rate of nonfatal violent gun crimes decreases by 76%.
A man lost his wife of 32 yrs in Vegas shooting and first thing he said to Sean Hannity - " I do not want my rights taken away." Meaning the 2nd Amendment.
For some it seems their emotions swing toward their guns first, then whatever else they have going on in their life, all the while claiming it is people who can think beyond the love of guns who are "purely emotional."

What about those facts do you not understand?
Are you bad at math?
I understand all the facts
I understand that correlation does not equal causation
You're trying to say that because two things are correlated that one caused the other.
Who is bad at math?
