What? White people raped, pillaged and murdered each other (and OTHERS) yet we always celebrate them

See how that sounds

Municipalities have been replacing it with Indigenous Peoples Day for the past 25 years.

Most non- government businesses do not observe the holiday.

While the Federal Reserve is closed, some banks are open as is the stock market.

Columbus did not discover North America and never set foot on North Anerica. He landed on islands in the Bahamas and what we now call Hispaniola. His crew raped, pillaged and murdered island inhabitants.

Maybe it should be named " Mass Murderer Day".
The Bahamas and all islands surrounding the mainland including Puerto Rico and Cuba are part of North America.

Since Indians were just as murderous as Columbus was why not remove the holiday completely ?

It's all part of the political correctness which has this country in a tight grip. I have a lot of respect for Native Americans but overall with the exception of a few tribes mostly in CA, most were as ruthless as the Europeans, not just towards Europeans but each other. They weren't just peaceful hunter gatherers taking care of the environment and respecting each other. Ever hear of the Aztecs?

That's not the point however, as Americans we have a whole bunch of memorable/statues/holidays that focus on history and then pitch the story to children in schools with political correctness (irony). I learned the truth when I went to college due to me wanting to learn about US history. As you know a large portion of this country don't have a college education.

My thing is if we are celebrating Colombus for what he did, tell the real story.

Y'all know that nobody in Texas cares about Columbus Day except for:

1.) Native Americans
2.) Italians
3.) Furniture stores

The real story has been told over and over in books and movies for at least the last 20-30 years. Anyone who doesn't know it by now either lives in a cave or prefers to ignore it.
You don't need to have a college education to read a newspaper or watch a movie or documentary.
