A 2015 study by the New York state comptroller found that in 2013 Californians paid $9,086 per capita in federal taxes and received $9,040 per capita in federal spending—or about 99 cents of spending for every tax dollar.
Yes, that 1 cent equals 13 billion dollars. The annual GDP for California is 2.6 trillion. Alabama's GDP is 205 billion to give you a comparison. So, not an insignificant amount.
Close down your sanctuary cities, start cooperating with the feds and following the law regarding immigration, and then we'll talk about financial assistance if you need it.
Until then.....you are on your own.
You can't have it both ways.
You are either part of the country, or you aren't.
I'm going to take a guess that you've never been involved in the after-effects of a natural disaster, or at least not one that left any lasting damage. Had you ever experienced the devastation of a forest fire, an earthquake, or a hurricane, you'd be far less likely to try to hold an entire state's population hostage over something that the majority of them have absolutely nothing to do with.
There is a very large portion of California on fire right now, and you're going to complain about a few cities where the mayors are idiots? Who gives a damn? These people need help, get off your high horse and start supporting your fellow humans. We may not always agree with those on the other side of the aisle politically, ethically, or morally (personally I'm completely against sanctuary cities and I absolutely detest California politicians), but attacking them because they disagree with you in the middle of a freaking forest fire that is currently burning down their homes is possibly the most asinine thing that I've ever seen written here. Considering the number of trolls that I've seen come and go on these forums, that's saying a whole lot.
Do they get to keep their tax money and stop subsidizing red states? Is this the beginning of Balkanization? Because that's fine, just wanting to know if it's official yet.
sorry its the other states that keep cali floating...they get more federal money than they send in in taxes
Sanctuary cities still legal. Fed govt still responsible to help states and territories in times of need. Sorry but it's a simple as that.
I will come out and say. This is about hatred towards California. Notice how California is spelled with a "K" in this case. Personally, I am not for sanctuary cities. However, I still want the wildfires to stop, and California should be able to get help putting the fires out. California is part of this country, and should be helped.

Well said. I have been through both fire and earthquakes. There is no room for political posturing when fellow citizens are at risk of losing their homes or even their lives.

No. The numbers have been posted earlier in this very thread.
