I take little stock on what the billionaire oligarchs have to say. Not wanting to force feed millions of refugees into our country makes us "nationalists" .. whatever, billionaire.

As for being divided, this country was already headed that way under Obama because democrats insist on playing the victim card rather than telling minorities in the inner city to shut the bleep up and take responsibility for their own actions, stop being criminals, get a job, and do some good in their lives. If we're getting divided it's because it's human nature for different cultures to want to live together and to expect different cultures with different belief systems to mingle together in some sort of fantasy fairy tale defies the laws of nature and evolution and will take some time to accomplish. It's not so much about skin color as it is one's culture.

As to whether he's qualified or not, well luckily the founding fathers have that covered. He can't get too much done without the approval of congress, so just tough it out and vote for the next guy in 4 years if you're so upset about it. If it was up to me, I would eliminate the use of executive orders entirely however, and rescind all past executive orders, and make everything be passed by legislation that has to go through the congress. Maybe it would make government work a little bit faster, since now they don't seem to be motivated to do much of anything except line their own pockets, regardless of party.

That can be a good thing, though. Who says more laws are the answer? I would say let's coast with the laws we have for 20 years or so.. we'd be fine.
In a way he is a threat to democracy. Supporting Neo Nazis like Bannon--Germany already tried Nazism and how did that work out for them? Ridiculing anyone who disagrees with him instead of listening and maybe learning a thing or two from them. The list goes on.

Yes, the country was divided before but not at all as much as it is now. Now it doesn't even feel like the good old USA anymore with all the hatred. And yes, people should try to get jobs and support themselves, of course. It's not just any one race though--as you say, it's more about culture and people who are alike often wanting to live together.

Scary thing is that he might be able to accomplish things because if someone disagrees, he just fires them. And he's acted so mean with his name calling and firings that he has alienated most of Congress--so much so that Congress is almost ineffective now. And when Congress fails, as it does now, Trump just signs an executive order anyway!

As for taking in refugees, we should wise up and look at what's happened in Europe with taking in so many refugees. Yes, we are a melting pot, but it needs to happen slowly and naturally, not by letting millions of people in within a short time. People who do not speak English and have totally different cultures. Of course there will be a clash.

This country needs to take a good hard look at what has been happening in Europe and then we could prevent ourselves from making the same mistakes. We definitely are in danger of losing our democracy. We are not listening to the people anymore--and Trump is not listening to the people. If anyone thinks he is, have another glass of kool aid, lol.

Yet you seem fine having the GOP told how to vote by the KOCH family. And you seem happy with Mercer funding trump , bannon and breitbart....

hmmm, i guess you and the rest of the right are fine with billionaires running your party , deciding who wins the primary and creating astroturf movements like the tea party...

I agree with both your post and the one you were responding to.

The very country is under threat not just democracy and I think Trump is a pit stop on the road of no return and people need to wake up and realize that we were not heading in the right direction.
Immigration is what made this country Great LEGAL immigration. We cannot allow the borders to be used as welcome mats to the world and supplanting hundreds of thousands of poor people that do not speak English from dangerous areas of the world where "death to America" is a common chant on the streets just because they are "refugees" is not a good idea for anyone.

America has a chance with Trump that it did not have with Hillary who promised more of the same and worse. We should be refocusing on what is important and taking a hard look at the career politicians who do little but make speeches.

Trump is our chance to examine us and get ready for the next elections.

Someone once said..

Elections have consequences..

And having them, is not a "threat to Democracy" despite what some billionaire might say..
