Mueller and an indictment of Papadopoulos finally got Clovis to stop his bid to become chief scientist for USDA and control of $3 billion research budget despite no science background.

"Sam Clovis, a former Trump campaign national co-chairman and chief policy adviser, wrote in a letter Thursday to President Donald Trump that he does “not want to be a distraction or a negative influence.”"

Happy dance time.

Clovis was just an extreme homophobic bigot with no qualification.

But Trump couldn't see that and the GOP likely would have pushed the nomination through.

Hey Trump! Pick someone with a degree and some science background please instead of an unqualified bigot!

You mean POTUS would intentionally hire completely unqualified people to manage multi-billion dollar budgets?

I find that hard to believe.

He was truly awful and unqualified. The same can be said for many of Trump's picks.

Maddow had some interesting quotes from him from when he was running for the Senate in 2014. He thought the US should let Russia build its empire back.

What is it with trump and his people and Russia?

The Trump family and the Donald himself owe the Russians unknown billions of dollars in unpaid loans. The Russians OWN the Trump and the Kushner families and businesses. They will do anything to delay or prevent the collection of these debts.

It was a joke that he was even nominated to be U.S. Department of Agriculture’s chief scientist nominee. He has no academic credentials in either science or agriculture. When asked about his science background on a congressional questionnaire, he wrote in NONE.

It is sad that lack of the necessary credentials for the job did not matter to Clovis or Trump and his administration. This had no effect on his withdrawl. He is not going forward ONLY because of his involvement in the Mueller investigation. His connection to that could further embarrass Trump. They were not the least bit embarrassed by the fact that an unqualified person was nominated for a government job.
