Common Core math is designed to make us put up with bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is a bunch of extra unnecessary steps that often do more harm than good and are forced upon us because the system (government, employers, etc) tell us we have to do it that way or else. They don't want kids that would challenge that system so they mark them wrong, even if they did it the correct way, because they didn't follow the bureaucracy's whims.

Also, other things in Common Core math are also sinister. Like saying you can get 2 + 2= 5 if you can explain it well enough. That is the assault on absolutes. So if they can trick kids into believing that two plus two equals five, they can also trick kids into calling a man a woman (and vice versa).
