There seems to be quite a few on the left that want to punish millionaires or billionaires .

Bernie Sanders is one even though he is likely a millionaire himself .

Why is there this desire from the left to see millionaires and billionaires suffer somehow?

We know socialism and communism does not work yet there is this constant desire to turn America away from capitalism .

Also with inflation these days being a millionaire isn't what it was back in the 1960s or so .

There are about 10.8 million millionaires in America today which is a pretty significant amount . Why would the left want to turn off such a large part of the population ?

The opportunity to become a millionaire and financially independent without having to work for someone else forever is one of the great things about America and this isn't an opportunity available everywhere in the world . One reason so many immigrants want be in America and why so many have moved to America over the years .

Agree or disagree ?

There is a huge difference between "punishing" millionaires and requiring them to pay a higher percentage of taxes than the working class; it's only right wing partisans that see it your way; like Eric Cantor when he talked about "punishing success", which was tripe

Quasi socialistic Costa Rica is the only Central American country that people are trying to get into, not out of.
No Costa Rican wants to move to capitalist utopias like Honduras or Guatemala.
The president said that immigrants come here to rape and murder, not to become wealthy.

Millionaires already pay a lot more in dollar amount.

In California the wealthy 1%ers those ' evil' 1%ers pay.....get this.. 48 percent of taxes!

"Bernie Sanders wags his finger and shouts that the richest 1% should pay their fair share. No one can argue they aren’t already in California, at least in state taxes. In fact, they’re forking over more than their fair share to Gov. Jerry Brown’s regime.

The bottom 60% were good for only 2% of the taxes. But the highest 10% contributed 79%, according to the state Franchise Tax Board.
OK, but the top 1% earned the most, right? Right. They earned about 24% of the income, but paid 48% of the taxes.

The current top federal income tax rate is 39.6%. Sanders has advocated lifting it to 54%. Nationally, the richest 1% pay 35% of federal income taxes.

Rephrase the question. Why did the millionaires punish those who saved all their lives to boost their stock prices?

As usual, this will be ignored.

Yeah, let's punish the middle class instead. Sounds like a plan!

When it comes to paying taxes, California is Bernie Sanders' kind of state - LA Times
You do realize the difference between marginal and effective tax rates, don't you? A marginal rate of 39.6% is NOT an effective rate of 39.6%
