If you look at Trump's agenda, he is trying to accomplish the following:

1) Discredit and eliminate the free press. That way there is no one to question anything he does. No snoopy reporters trying to find out the truth.

2) Discredit and control various law enforcement and intelligence organizations, like the FBI, CIA, etc. He has also hinted at putting in "his own" law enforcement branch.

Those two areas are right out of the Dictatorship 101 playbook. The first thing they do is eliminate the press and the second thing is control the police. Hitler used EXACTLY those two tactics, and so does every other Dictator. Once you control those two areas, the rest is easy.
