Nah, not really.

For one, a huge nation like the U.S. that owns and controls its own currency does not have monetary constraints. Do you remember a tax to pay for the Iraq War? No? Me neither. Because we created new liabilities for it in a currency we own.

And two, while we have $20 trillion in debt, we also have $93 trillion in wealth.

The end result being : the way to measure "out of control spending" is inflation. Not just some arbitrary $trillions we never actually need to pay off.

We'll see how it all pans out next year.

"Meanwhile, the greatest bleed Republicans have seen so far this year is in affluent and educated suburbs that tend to be mixed or vote Republican. It’s precisely in those parts of blue states (and some red states too) where the SALT change is likely to be felt most keenly."

You've had to do that for years.
That is not the case. This has been abused for a couple of decades now.

To cut spending on entitlements means you have to explain why it is needed. Taking something from someone makes you look like the bad guy and democrats are happy to score those easy political points. Politicians always look out for their own best interests first, doing something that the majority of Americans don't want and will cause you to lose your next election even though it is what the country needs long term isn't on most politicians to do list.

Those wealthy areas in high tax states are mostly in districts controlled by democrats. Those states are already blue in re to presidential elections. It really is a very minor loss for a huge gain in most purple and all red states.

Trump and the GOP will trade votes out of places like CA, NY and Mass for votes in Wisconsin, OH, PA every day of the week.

So a tax plan should exist that is designed to deliberately target the opposing party including blue states and colleges. And the dollars taken from them are given to wealthy GOP donors. It looks like the Republican Party wants to lead the country into Civil War.

No they're not.

The exhurbs and wealthy suburbs in many southern red states are negatively impacted in states such as Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, NC, SC, Texas

Texas has one of the highest property taxes in the country. And two other states in the top ten for property taxes are Wisconsin and Michigan, both states that put Trump in office in 2016.

If an illegal filed a tax return why wouldn't Trump just go deport them?

Even if he comes out ahead, not paying your bills is the wrong the to do. Win or lose it's the wrong thing to do.
