Better to stop them at the border then to allow them to get in here where they are harder to weed out and much more expensive to do so.
You didn't answer. Can we raise taxes to pay for the wall or does it just add to the deficit like everything else?

rubbish. in years past both parties cooperated on legislation, of course i am talking before bush43. republicans and democrats cooperated on a lot of legislation, either writing it, or getting it passed, same before that was well.

it wasnt until the bush years that democrats stopped cooperating with republicans, and during the obama years republicans opposed bad laws, like obamacare.

but now the democrats want DACA, so to get it they are going the HAVE to cooperate with republicans, and that means making a deal on other immigration issues, like ending chain migration, and visa lotteries. if they dont, then they are going to be beaten up in the general elections.

Work on this first and the businesses. Then see if there’s enough left to warrant a wall. How many criminals (not just the act of coming here that could be largely be stopped by no jobs, ones that commit further crimes) and terrorists are coming here? Do you have those numbers?

Are you purposely being obtuse? I never said that a wall would stop visa over stayers. I said that problem will have to be addressed in a different way.

There are still illegal aliens coming thru our southern border whether you want to admit it or not. So both issues need to be addressed at the same time. You think that criminals and terrorists are looking for jobs? No one knows for sure how many illegal aliens are coming here including criminals and terrorists but one is one too many. The former FBI Director has said that those from known terrorist countries have entered through our southern border and disappeared into our country.

Most Americans continue to oppose U.S. border wall, doubt Mexico would pay for it
As was the case throughout the presidential campaign, more Americans continue to oppose (62%) than favor (35%) building a wall along the entire U.S. border with Mexico.

Most Texans do not want Trump's border wall

President Donald Trump will have to mess with Texas if he wants to build his "big, beautiful" wall.

According to a new poll from the nonpartisan Texas Lyceum, residents of the Lone Star State overwhelmingly oppose Trump's planned border wall and support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

Of 1,000 Texans surveyed, 90% support a path to citizenship, while 61% oppose the proposed wall and 58% disapprove of the way the president has handled immigration overall.

While Texas — which comprises 1,254 miles of the country's 1,900 mile border with Mexico — is traditionally deeply conservative, the survey results suggest Republicans and Democrats could find common ground on immigration if they can move past the politics.
