Merit-based consumes H1B, but you do have a point. You hear arguments for merit-based and against allowing hi-tech immigration at the same time. The fact is you never know if there are enough domestic programmers because if employers can't find them, the argument goes they are not paying them enough.

Cutting off what is mostly legal immigration is not going to pay for a wall of this size. Not even close, so how do we pay for it? Can we raise taxes?

Illegal aliens cost us about $116 billion every year, while DHS estimates the cost of the wall at around $20 billion. The wall pays for itself in no time.

Be honest. Is money your problem? Doubt it.

Isn't that what H1B is? Jobs don't "wait" for anyone. If there is an opening and they can't fill it then they are accused of not paying enough. So basically there is never a job for a foreigner.

Another utter nonsense post. Cato long ago slayed that lying tale. In fact if you actually could quickly remove the illegal aliens the cost would go up with the damage to the economy and the cost of maintaining the citizen children who would mostly not leave and would qualify for all sorts of welfare benefits. Sure they would take the infants but no anyone older than 5 or 6 would be left with relatives and friends who would file for welfare for the kids. And when the infants got to be 5 or 6 back they come. And you cannot keep them out they are US citizens.

Too bad the right wing has such a low regard for truth.

This is just a full-throated admission that Trump LIED about Mexico paying for the wall.

One of the many, many LIES that emanate from Trump's sausage lips.

Where is that info coming from lol We are talking about kids who have lived here all their lives. They go to college, have jobs and contribute to our country. Building a wall is a complete waste of money.

Would you truly expect a country to pay for a dividing barrier between them selves and another country unless it was in their interests to do so. NO that was just a good sound byte; So President Trump indicating that Mexico would pay for the wall; was in of it's self just a good sound byte.

It is not in Mexico's interest to build a wall between the United States and Mexico. So that puts the burden of building a wall back on the American Tax payers; if that is in fact something that the majority of the American Tax payers even want in the first place.
