All these types of posts are given as rewards to donors and ppl who supported the elected politicians. Happens all the time at the state levels with various commissions etc.

They all need to be permanently stopped. It is basically theft from tax payers to reward political lackeys.

It's really not that difficult. Don't share dirty needles and don't screw someone you don't know without protection. Probably the easiest disease in the country to control, if people had a tiny bit of responsibility. Money spent on HIV research could be better put towards diseases that are a bigger threat to more people.

And don't get born to someone who is HIV+. Easy enough, right?

According to Call. one can infect someone and it is no big deal now.

When did Trump become this great homophobe?
Oh yeah, when he ran for President.
Funny, that was when he supposedly became a racist.
Trump was a supporter of gay marriage before Obama.

Seriously how big of an impact does this council have as far as AIDS research goes?

I believe George W Bush actually was pretty good on this. As far as the LGBT community voting against Republicans that is already the case. This move won't change much of anything.

Trump threw a bone to his base and lost very little political capital in the process. I am not agreeing with this decision just pointing out the obvious.

Okay, be honest, just how many members of the LGBT community vote Republican anyway Sea? Because I'm betting that number is already like....none. Also, it's funny to me how a thread about HIV took you straight to talking about the LGBT community. Perhaps more education on the causes of AIDS and HIV should be directed toward this group of people, since apparently you still think AIDS is synonymous with GAY.

Also, news flash, there is more money in treating a disorder than curing it. Current treatments have been proven to work so effectively that people with AIDS have the same life expectancy as people without it. So it's a freaking cash cow. You can keep people on meds for 30, 40, maybe even 50 years by keeping them sick. So why on earth would BIG PHARMA ever actually provide a cure? The HIV/AIDS council serves only one purpose. To provide you with the illusion that the government cares and that they are "working on the cure!" It's PR, and nothing more. The sad part is you actually believe it's a party thing, and that the Democrats really care about issues like this. I keep dreaming of the day when people actually realize this two party system is just like pro wrestling. Bitter enemies in the ring when they are in front of the crowds, but BBQ's in the backyard with each other on the weekend.
