That aside, why would you think "conservatives" or anyone would be "against" them? I've never heard of such a thing. Strange question.
If there is a positive EROEI and acceptably low environmental impact, then I'm all for it. We know that there are aesthetic issues with the big wind turbines, some of which were pointed out above.
It's not a term I coined, this is what they are known as globally. Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources such as the sun and wind. Where as uranium (for nuclear energy), coal and oil have a finite supply, hence are non-renewable.
I don't think this is a silly question, as you can see many people are for or against certain aspects and I specifically wanted the opinion of conservatives and the left will typically be for renewables with a few minor exceptions.
So, you're OK with the huge breaks that fossil fuels receive?
This thread asked about my opinion on "renewable energy", so I gave it. If you want to discuss "fossil fuels", then start another thread on it rather than trying to hijack this one.

There were electric delivery-vehicles in use, starting around 1860 or so. Then electric-cars followed not too long after. The ICE-vehicle crushed the electrics......and for very logical reasons.
The efficiency in which you can refuel a internal-combustion engine, range and price-point are going to be a very steep hill for electrics to overcome.....until then, it is niche-status for electrics.
Technically petroleum is renewable. It just has a long renewal cycle.
Solar makes perfect sense where it’s sunny.
Wind makes sense where it’s windy.
Nuclear is the best option, but not politically correct.
I think if every new home had 1kw of grid-tied panels we would be the cleanest industrial country on the planet in short order. The goal should be augment.
Tesla will run into rare earth shortages at some point, but there will be some other storage - maybe hydrogen cells.
CNG is a good option for local use and is well tested and cleaner than gas.
Smart home technology that kills phantom power and wasted power would be more environmentally friendly than anything.
There should be an open marketplace of the energy. Competition to drive down prices. A combination of Renewables, LNG and nuclear is absolutely the future imo. What I fear is that in the process of trying to go green, ie carbon taxes and other regulatory measures etc, You will bid up the cost of energy through the roof and create poverty, destroy the middle class. For example, the average electric bill in Germany is $800 a month! This is putting a huge strain on the middle class there.
As the title states...conservatives, what's your opinion on solar and wind energy? Are you ok with it? are you against is? Is it hippie hog-wash? Are you against the tax incentives? Are nuclear energy, coal and oil working so why fix it if it's not broke?
Some conservatives seem to be for renewables while others are against. What's your opinion on renewables and why?
I’m fine with it as long as it isn’t subsidized.
