They get fined by the state if they give the information but is there a federal penalty if they don't give the information?

This can't continue, people.

Either California follows federal law, or they can find their politicians locked up.

OR - we can take the next step and let them form their own country.

This can't continue as it is now. Enough is enough.
State officials aren't supposed to enforce federal laws. Federal officials are. ICE is supposed to be doing the roundups not your local police. As simple as that.

Wonder why local police doesn't patrol the state highways? Because that's not in their jurisdiction. Same thing.

They are supposed to cooperate, not protect criminals. Don't worry though, these politicians who put sanctuary laws in place are going to be prosecuted soon anyway.

You need a civics course and pay attention when it gets to Federalism.

California’s legislature has decided that it is sound socio-economic policy to encourage the inflow of migrants and has passed legislation accordingly. It’s as simple as that. The State is not obliged to cooperate with the Federal government. Most of the armchair Constitutional scholars on this forum are simply wrong by relying on the premise that such cooperation is required.

If you disagree with the economic belief that the State with the highest agricultural output should increase the number of laborers in it, that’s completely defensible. But it’s a States rights issue.

So... Why would the State of California choose to deliberately prosecute employers who report illegal aliens to ICE? That doesn't involve the state at all.
